In order to obtain your Ontario hunting license, you must produce one of a previous year, or a hunting license from one of your own States.
We do not sell licenses, however, we will direct you to the proper issuers or you can buy them on the way up.
Rifle Hunt:
For our moose hunt we have an unlimited number of calf tags and one bull tag for W.M.U. 35 (subject to change) which will be given to you upon your arrival.
Package Deal -
$6000.00 CAN Funds + taxes per person (any combination of 1 to 8 hunters) -
Package deal includes housekeeping accommodations, tags, boat, guiding until bull is taken to a maximum of 5 days. Price does not include moose license.
Our accommodations have electric heat, hot & cold running water, complete kitchens, bathrooms & satellite TV.
Moose hunting season for non-residents is open October 13/08.
Moose hunting season for residents is open October 11/08.
For non-resident hunters who book the package deal, check in is Saturday Oct. 11./08 and the hunt starts on Monday Oct. 13/08 and check out will be Saturday Oct. 18/08.
For resident hunters who book the package deal, check in is Friday Oct. 10./08 and the hunt starts on Saturday Oct. 11/08 and check-out will be Friday Oct. 17/08.
Success rate for the past moose hunting season (2007) was 100%
Depending on the number of hunters, there will be 2 guys with the guide in his vehicle. If there are more than 3 hunters, you will follow in your own vehicle. The hunter with the bull tag will be with the guide until he fills that tag. The others will take turns as the second hunter in the truck. The details will be ironed out once the number of hunters is confirmed. If only 1 or 2 hunters (Maximum 8) would like to book the moose hunt, there is no problem as long as he is willing to pay the price of the hunt.
Archery Hunt:
We can convert our one bull rifle tag to 2 archery bull tags
Package Deal - $3000.00 Cdn per bull tag
Price includes accommodation and tag.
This is an unguided hunt but we will assist you as much as possible.
Price does not include taxes or moose licence
Season opens September 20.
Check in is Saturday, September 20th & check out is Saturday, September 27th.
If you would like to check in on Friday, September 19th then check out would be Friday, September 26th.
The weather at this time of year is pretty cold, so come prepared with warm clothing. You will also need gloves, hunter orange hat & vest or coat, compass, hunting knife, flashlight, camera, alarm clock, rain gear, waterproof boots, towels, soap, toilet tissue and anything you think you will need or that you normally bring on hunting trips.
Deposit is 1/2 of your package deal per hunter by either money order, personal check or cashier's check. This is your assurance for your booking as well as ours. Deposits will be non-refundable due to the fact that we have a limited number of tags which will be specifically issued in your name. If you decide to hunt from our camp please reserve as soon as possible as your names have to be submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Please supply your full given, second and last names as well as your complete address. Also, please specify in who's name the bull tag is to be issued.
From Sault Ste. Marie you can take Hwy. 17 east to Thessalon, then Hwy. 129 north to Chapleau. Drive approximately 135 miles and turn left on Sheppard & Morse Road. Or, from Sault Ste. Marie take Hwy. 17 north to Wawa, then Hwy. 101 east to Chapleau. When you arrive at the Chapleau Junction by-pass for 400 feet and turn right on Sheppard & Morse Road. This will take you directly to our lodge, approximately 1 mile. We are looking forward to having you with us.
